John Tong
John's career includes experience with system and software architectures including extensive
software development expertise in designing and developing large scale distributed applications.
In addition, he has worked closely with upper management in many start-ups and Fortune 1000
companies helping them strategize their web infrastructures.
Before Tacpoint, John worked at eBay helping to integrate partner systems and build internal
development tools. Prior to eBay, John was the senior project manager at an Internet consulting
company where he oversaw all facets of software development. John's responsibilities included
day-to-day operations issues and recruitment of new developers (growing the development staff
from 4 to 40). While there, John architected and constructed many web solutions including a
custom built application server for Critical Path.
John also worked at Accenture (formly Andersen Consulting), as a Senior Consultant for the
telecom industry. While at Accenture, John helped develop a Usage Processing system for a
global satellite telecommunications company. Before Accenture, John developed everything from
prototypes of defense systems at Texas Instruments to General Ledger applications and Student
Information Systems.
John holds a BS degree in Computer Science and Math and brings over 15 years of software
development experience to the company.
Andy Katz
Andy serves as both a Project Manager and lead Technical Architect on several ongoing client
engagements at Tacpoint. His strong background in software development and consulting make
him a valuable resource on any IT project where time to market, budget and quality are of
the utmost concern.
Prior to joining Tacpoint, Andy was a Senior Technology Consultant with Sage IT Partners,
where he was responsible for designing and implementing web enabled solutions across a broad
array of vertical markets including manufacturing, sales, and finance. Before joining Sage,
Andy was a Senior Consultant with Accenture (formerly known as Andersen Consulting) specializing
in the telecommunications industry. Andy led development efforts for several telephony billing
applications, where he oversaw requirements definition, object design, data model design, and
testing strategies.
Prior to this position, Andy was an Associate with Arthur Andersen & Co, SC where he participated
in the development and production support of an internal worldwide accounting application. His
client list includes Pacific Bell Telesis, Motorola, Netscape Communications, Charles Schwab,
Wyle Electronics, and Pacific Gas & Electric Energy Services.
Andy holds a BS in Mathematics and Economics and brings over 13 years of IT and consulting experience
to Tacpoint.
Ming Lau
Ming's deep understanding of enterprise software development allows him to provide the critical
guidance necessary for ensuring success on any transaction intensive, high availability software
application. At Tacpoint, Ming serves as a Project Manager, Technical Architect, and a mentor to
less experienced staff members.
Before joining Tacpoint, Ming was a Project Manager with Sage IT Partners. While there, Ming worked
on many systems including a web based Financial system, distributed Knowledge Management system, and
a server side solution for a retail e-commerce application. Ming oversaw and participated in the
requirements definition, analysis, design, construction and testing phases of several client engagements
while also managing and mentoring a team of experienced and inexperienced software engineers.
Before joining Sage, Ming was a Senior Consultant in the telecommunication industry at Accenture
(formerly known as Andersen Consulting). While at Accenture, Ming helped to develop numerous telephony
billing applications for many Regional Bell Operating Companies. Prior to Andersen Consulting, Ming was
a software analyst at MCI WorldCom. Ming focused on supporting the business' billing and usage reporting
applications for both voice and data systems.
Ming holds a BS Management Information Systems and brings over 15 years of IT experience to Tacpoint.
Kim Gentes
Kim is a senior member of Tacpoint with a tremendous amount of know-how in object and data modeling
as well as detailed requirements gathering. She serves as the primary technical lead on many client
engagements with an emphasis on server side development. She also acts as a Project Manager to several
clients located in the Los Angeles region of Southern California.
Prior to Tacpoint, Kim was a Senior System Analyst at ADS Associates, where she helped develop a distributed,
multi-tier, web trading and risk management system for use by treasury and capital markets traders. Kim
participated in all phases of the development cycle including requirements specifications, application
design, software construction, and quality assurance testing.
Before ADS, Kim worked at SunGard Financial Systems as a Senior Software Analyst where she developed the
client portion of a portfolio management system. Kim has also worked for Fair, Isaac and Company where she
was a member of a development team responsible for designing and constructing an international consumer
credit application. Kim started her engineering career at Timberline Software, where she was the lead
developer for the Accounts Payable system.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and brings over 14 years of development experience to Tacpoint.
